Jon Holbrook
barrister; author, Reversing Britain’s Free Speech Recession

Jon Holbrook is a barrister, having been called to the bar in 1991. He previously practised at Garden Court and Cornerstone, coming to specialise in public law. In 2021, he was expelled from Cornerstone for expressing socially conservative beliefs on Twitter. He was cleared of wrongdoing in 2022 by an appeals panel independent of his regulator, the Bar Standards Board, and the High Court has affirmed the principle used to clear him as establishing the right for professionals to speak freely on political issues. He now uses his legal expertise and personal experiences to support others in fighting for free speech.

Jon occasionally writes for The Critic and his paper on Reversing Britain’s Free Speech Recession was published by the Prosperity Institute in July 2026.
