Faika El-Nagashi
director, Athena Forum; political scientist; former MP (Austria)

Faika El-Nagashi is the founder and director of Athena Forum, an independent European organisation working on sex-based rights, freedom of expression and democratic accountability. A political scientist, she worked in civil society for more than 15 years, with a focus on the rights of migrant women, before spending a decade in Austrian politics with the Green Party, including as a member of parliament.
She has spoken publicly against gender-identity policies for several years and left the Green Party over disagreements on women’s rights. She established Athena Forum in 2025, which publishes policy analysis, engages with European institutions, and convenes policymakers, researchers and those directly affected by these policies to promote open debate on women’s rights and gender identity policies. She is co-author of Beneath the Surface, a report examining how gender-identity ideology became embedded in the European Union and the Council of Europe over the past decade, and is a regular commentator on European policies affecting sex-based rights, the safeguarding of children and young people and freedom of expression.
