Toby Marshall is a teacher of film studies and member of the Academy of Ideas Education Forum. He has taught film studies and other subjects in Essex and East London for more than 20 years, working successfully with both GCSE resit, A-level and degree-level students. He recommends that you watch, but don’t become, The Conformist.

His writing and reading focuses on the relationship between politics, values, knowledge and education. He is for knowledge and against indoctrination within education and has just completed a sociological history of the National Curriculum for England. This can be read on his Substack.
