Richard Schenk

Richard J. Schenk is a Hungarian-German political scientist specialising in European politics and EU governance. He is the Co-Founder and Research Director of the Freedom & Sovereignty Initiative Europe (FSI Europe).

His wider research focuses on European Union governance mechanisms, economic structures, environmental directives, and agricultural policy. He is the co-author of Hidden Policy Makers – NGOs in the Brussels Bubble (Springer Nature, forthcoming 2026), which examines the influence of non-governmental organisations on EU decision-making processes.

Richard regularly comments on European politics in international media and contributes analysis to publications including Brussels Signal and The European Conservative. He studied political science at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and previously served as a research associate at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on transport policy and multi-level governance. He lives and works in Brussels.
