Lucy McLaughlin is an investigative reporter at The Mill, an independent, digital news site covering Greater Manchester that specialises in long-form journalism. Since The Mill’s launch in 2020, its investigations have led to six arrests for alleged electoral fraud at this year’s local elections, the resignation of Andy Burnham’s former advisor, the arrest of the University of Greater Manchester’s vice-chancellor, the resignation of Rochdale council’s chief executive and several mentions in Parliament.

Lucy uncovered that Reform UK broke electoral law in the Gorton and Denton by-election and has reported extensively on the turbulent political scene in Greater Manchester. She has investigated everything from fraudulent tech bros to Monaco-based billionaires, and revealed years of alleged sexual harassment at the University of Manchester’s medical school. Lucy has appeared on Times Radio and the Today programme to discuss her reporting.
