Fiyaz Mughal
columnist and social commentator; founder, Faith Matters and Tell MAMA

Fiyaz Mughal is a campaigner, writer and social entrepreneur with more than 25 years’ experience supporting diverse communities across the United Kingdom. He is the founder of Tell MAMA, the national project recording and supporting victims of anti-Muslim hate, which has assisted more than 65,000 British Muslims since 2011.
Through Faith Matters and Muslims Against Antisemitism, Fiyaz has worked extensively to strengthen social cohesion, challenge extremism and build understanding between Muslim, Jewish and other communities. His work has brought him into contact with government departments, police forces, educational institutions, charities and international partners. He is also a regular commentator on faith, identity, integration, antisemitism, anti-Muslim hate and the challenges posed by political and religious extremism.
Alongside his public work, Fiyaz is a therapist specialising in anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, shame, stress and trauma. His therapeutic practice reflects the same values that have shaped his community work: compassion, dignity and a commitment to helping people feel heard.
He has written for leading national publications, including The Times, Independent, Guardian, Telegraph and Jewish Chronicle, and brings a distinctive perspective as a British Muslim committed to pluralism, dialogue and the defence of democratic values for all.
