Dr Bella D’Abrera
historian and commentator on education; author, Mindless: How the Education System is Indoctrinating Children and Destroying Our Civilisation

Dr Bella d’Abrera is an author, historian and commentator on education, culture and Western civilisation. She is the co-founder of Wyborn Press, an independent publishing house established with her husband, journalist and author Fred Pawle.
For almost a decade, Bella was director of the Foundations of Western Civilisation Program at the Institute of Public Affairs in Australia, where she researched and wrote extensively on education, universities, history, culture and the transmission of the Western intellectual tradition.
She is the author of Mindless: How the Education System is Indoctrinating Children and Destroying Our Civilisation, published in 2026, which examines the transformation of education across Australia, Britain and the United States, and argues that schools have increasingly abandoned the transmission of knowledge in favour of political and ideological activism.
Bella holds a PhD in history from the University of Cambridge and has written and spoken widely on education, Western Civilisation and the culture wars. Her work has appeared in a range of Australian and international publications, and she is a regular commentator in the media. She is also a member of History Reclaimed, an international group of scholars challenging ideological distortions of the past.
