Gareth Sturdy

Gareth entered teaching in the 1990s after reading physics at Liverpool University. He has also spent time as a Fleet Street journalist and run his own public-relations business.

His educational roles have included head of physics at a leading grammar school, teaching at the East London Science School and Michaela Community School, and advising on physics and education in the edtech sector. He now teaches science in the independent sector.

Gareth helped to set up the Physics Factory, a London Mayor project to boost physics teaching, and has also taught English and Mathematics to apprentices. He is co-organiser of the AoI Education Forum and comments regularly on education issues in the media.

He is the co-author of the 2017 book What Should Schools Teach? Disciplines, subjects and the pursuit of truth , and currently working on the forthcoming Five Critical Essays on AI.
