David Shipley
journalist on crime and justice; researcher on the impacts of prison; former prisoner

David Shipley is an investigative journalist with a focus on prisons, crime, corruption and security in the broadest sense. He produces films, writes policy papers, and regularly appears in the media discussing these topics. He served a prison sentence from 2020 – 2021 for a fraud he committed in 2014. David is also a PhD candidate at the University of Southampton, where he is researching the impact of parental imprisonment on children. In his spare time he writes fiction about England, magic, spies, and murderous long-dead Greek queens.
