software developer; editor, economics section, New Socialist
Wendy Liu is a software developer and former startup founder who left the tech industry to study inequality at the London School of Economics. She now spends most of her time writing about the tech industry, both about her own experience of being disillusioned by startups, and about how technology can be repurposed to serve the collective good, for political publications like Notes From Below, Novara Media and New Internationalist. She is also an editor for the economics section of New Socialist.
Her current area of interest is developing the idea of ‘abolishing Silicon Valley’ as a way to suggest that the present conditions of technological development are suboptimal, and that improving them would require a fundamental transformation of the economy.
