professor of politics; University of Surrey
Simon Usherwood is Professor in Politics at the University of Surrey. His work has long focused on euroscepticism and on UK-EU relations, which has meant a very strong focus in recent years on Brexit, and especially its relationship to the European Union. He has published widely, for both academic and general audiences, including The Very Short Introduction to the EU (OUP), as well as popping up on TV, radio and print media regularly to explain stuff. His A Diet of Brussels has the dubious distinction of being the longest-running Brexit-themed podcast anywhere, having begun the day after the 2015 general election: he apologises for giving other people the idea.
