Fay Schlesinger became head of News at The Times in 2015 - the first woman to hold this role - following several years as a reporter. In 2012 she and a Times colleague won Scoop of the Year at the Press Awards for an investigation into tax avoidance that exposed the tactics used by figures including Jimmy Carr. She sits on the advisory panel of the Science Media Centre, which aims to inform and improve coverage of science and health stories. Previously she worked as a reporter at the Daily Mail, the Guardian and regional papers in Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
