Fay​ ​Schlesinger​ ​became​ ​head​ ​of​ ​News​ ​at​ ​​The Times ​in​ ​2015​ ​-​ ​the​ ​first woman​ ​to​ ​hold​ ​this​ ​role​ ​-​ ​following​ ​several​ ​years​ ​as​ ​a​ ​reporter.​ ​In​ ​2012​ ​she and​ ​a​ ​​Times colleague​ ​won​ ​Scoop​ ​of​ ​the​ ​Year​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Press​ ​Awards​ ​for​ ​an investigation​ ​into​ ​tax​ ​avoidance​ ​that​ ​exposed​ ​the​ ​tactics​ ​used​ ​by​ ​figures including​ ​Jimmy​ ​Carr.​ ​She sits on the advisory panel of the Science Media Centre, which aims to inform and improve coverage of science and health stories. Previously​ ​she​ ​worked​ ​as​ ​a​ ​reporter​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Daily Mail,​ ​the​ ​Guardian ​and​ ​regional​ ​papers​ ​in​ ​Yorkshire​ ​and​ ​Greater Manchester.
