designer and founder, Pedrita Studio
From 1996 to 2001 Rita João studied design in Lisbon and Delft. She started her activity as a designer at Fabrica in Treviso, Italy where she ended co-coordinating Fabrica’s 3D department with Pedro Ferreira. In 2005 Rita and Pedro founded Pedrita, a multidisciplinary design studio based in Lisbon. The studio team and resources are brought together according to each project request relying on a network of established professionals, aiming that every project casts an inquisitive look on process and material culture, gathering unexpected and conscious formal solutions.
Along with the studio activity, she co-organised Free Speech talks from 2006 to 2009, and Pecha Kucha Night Lisbon from 2007 to 2010. She has taught at ETIC and ESAD Caldas da Rainha and she is co-author with Frederico Duarte and Pedro Ferreira of Fabrico Próprio, a book about semi-industrialised portuguese pastries.
