head of Additional Learning Support, Canterbury College
Originally from Ireland, Richard Dwyer completed a doctorate in art history which partly looked at the history of racism and totalitarianism. He has worked in education, the care sector and is an active artist. The former two have significantly shaped his views as did his research.
Presently he manages a department which oversees the provision of support for young people with special educational needs. Both this role and his previous as diversity ddvisor have raised interesting questions regarding identity and how this is engaged with in education.
