Professor Dr Michael Zürn

Professor Dr Michael Zürn is director of the research unit Global Governance at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB) and professor of international relations at the Free University of Berlin. Furthermore, he is member of the Berlin–Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and member of the Academia Europaea and director of the Berlin Graduate School for Transnational Studies.
From 2004 to 2010, he was founding dean of the Hertie School of Governance. Before that, he was professor of international relations at the University of Bremen for 10 years and director of the Institute for Intercultural and International Studies. From 2002 to 2004 he was director of the Collaborative Research Center ‘Transformations of the State’ (TranState) at the University of Bremen.
His research is on the emergence and function of International Institutions and Organisations and their effect on global political order. He is the author of many books, articles and papers.
