Phelim McAleer is an investigative journalist, a New York Times best-selling author, filmmaker, playwright and one of the world’s leading Crowdfunders.

He is the co-author of the New York Times Best Seller Gosnell – the untold story of America’s most prolific serial killer. He produced the movie Gosnell – the trial of America’s biggest serial killer which opened in 700 theatres. He currently contributes to the Wall Street Journal opinion page and has been a reporter/correspondent for the Financial Times, The Economist, The Sunday Times and the Irish News. He has raised almost $3million in seven crowdfunding campaigns.

McAleer produced and directed FrackNation – a documentary about fracking which the New York Times described as ‘provocative and meticulously researched’. He also produced and directed Not Evil Just Wrong, a feature documentary looking at the effects of global warming solutions on the poor in the developed and developing world. McAleer has written and produced a series of Verbatim plays in the US. His FERGUSON play about the police shooting of Michael Brown, was staged in Los Angeles and although the play was based entirely on verbatim transcripts of eyewitness testimony, nine of the 13 cast walked out before opening night. Alternative newspaper LA Weekly said Ferguson was ‘divisive, but riveting’ and ‘an incendiary night of theatre’. Vice News described his play FBI Lovebirds: Undercovers as ‘edgy’ and ‘dangerous’. He is currently the co-host of the podcast The Ann and Phelim Scoop.
