Since September 2016, Patrick Dickie has been the artistic director of Teatro Nacional São Carlos (TNSC), Portugal’s national opera company and home to the Orquestra Sinfonica Portuguesa and the chorus of TNSC. In his first two seasons, the company has presented four new productions, the Sao Carlos premiere of Peter Grimes and, in 2017/2018, takes two productions to Porto.
Over twenty years, he has worked as a creative producer in opera and music theatre at English National Opera, Aldeburgh Music and at the Almeida Theatre, London, producing ten seasons of Almeida Opera, including thirty productions, including sixteen world premieres, by composers including Ades, Battistelli, Barry, Casken, Dove, Goebbels, Holt. He developed Almeida Opera into a year round touring, commissioning and artist development centre.
As Producer at English National Opera, he collaborated closely with artistic director John Berry on the programming and commissioning of a series of internationally recognised Olivier Award winning collaborations between ENO and British and International theatre talent.
