Lord Stewart Wood

Stewart Wood is a Labour member of the House of Lords and an Oxford don. He has taught politics at Oxford for over 25 years, where he is a fellow of both Magdalen College and the Blavatnik School of Government. His writing and research concentrated on welfare, inequality & economic policy in western Europe. From 2001-2010 he was a principal adviser to Gordon Brown, first at the Treasury and then at 10 Downing Street – on Europe, foreign policy, education, Northern Ireland and cultural policy. In 2010 he helped run Ed Miliband’s campaign to be leader of the Labour Party, and served in Ed’s shadow cabinet. Since 2011 he has been in the House of Lords, where he currently serves on the EU Select Committee.
