Judith Ish-Horowicz MBE
director and principal, Apples and Honey Nightingale CIC, the first co-located nursery in a care home in England
Judith Ish-Horowicz MBE is an Early Years educator who also enjoys learning with 3rd agers. Judith opened Apples & Honey Nursery 26 years ago and, having visited Nightingale House regularly with the children for nearly 20 years, she was delighted when her dream of starting a nursery in the grounds of the home became a reality. In September 2017 the doors of Apples and Honey Nightingale CIC opened.
Apples and Honey Nightingale CIC is the first co-located nursery in a care home in England where children and residents meet, learn and interact daily. Judith is the nursery’s intergenerational lead, excited by the challenge of integrating intergenerational engagements into the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and ensuring it is appropriate and inclusive for residents and children alike. She thanks Nightingale Hammerson for being such a welcoming partner.
Judith is a school governor and was awarded an MBE for services to Early Years Education in 2010.
