Jonny Ball
special projects writer, New Statesman

Having taught English in the UK and abroad for a number of years, Jonny joined the New Statesman in 2017, initially helping organise the magazine’s readers’ events and presence at the annual Labour, SNP and Conservative Party conferences. He has since moved on to full time writing for the Spotlight supplement and New Statesman website, focusing particularly on public policy in local government and housing.

Jonny is also currently studying at the Centre for Urban Research on Austerity at De Montfort University, for a PhD on the Labour left in local government and new emerging forms of municipal socialism.
