chief technology officer, Iergo Ltd; author, Practical Data Migration
Johny Morris is chief technology officer at Iergo Ltd. He is a consultant who, over the last 30 years, has worked in all utility sectors – gas, electricity, rail, and telecoms. However, his favoured area is water.
Johny has immense respect for the people who take away sewage and give us clean drinking water. As he says, ‘we bet our lives every day, on the quality of the water we drink’. He has been involved in all aspects of the business from water plants to sewage treatment works. And from regulatory reporting to meter reading. He has been exposed to the commercial and financial aspects which form an unseen background to the realities of delivering that clean water.
However, he is not uncritical of the political, and regulatory structures of water management in the UK, which limit the potential for delivering cheap, plentiful, supplies of water to all consumers. He is also the author of Practical Data Migration (second edition 2012).
