Godfrey Baldacchino is pro rector for international development and quality assurance and professor of sociology at the University of Malta. He is also UNESCO co-chair in Island Studies & Sustainability at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada; founding editor of Island Studies Journal (2006 -2016) and Small States & Territories Journal (2018 – ) and president of the International Small Islands Studies Association (2014 – ).

His books include Global Tourism and Informal Labour Relations (1997); Extreme Tourism: Lessons from the World’s Cold Water Islands (2006) and Archipelago Tourism: Practices and Policies (2014).
