Emilie Karafillakis is a researcher at the Vaccine Confidence Project at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has a background in public health, infectious disease control, and health systems and policies. She leads European research on understanding reasons behind low vaccine confidence in certain European populations, the growing role and influence of social media, and strategies that may be used to rebuild public trust. She also works on understanding why healthcare workers might be hesitant to recommend certain vaccines or to accept vaccines for themselves. Emilie is also a PhD candidate, her research focuses on adolescent girls’ decision-making processes with regards to HPV vaccination in France.
