Dr Liz O’Riordan

Dr Liz O’Riordan is a consultant breast surgeon. She qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1998, and after training in South Wales and East Anglia she completed a National Oncoplastic Fellowship at the Royal Marsden before being appointed as a consultant at Ipswich Hospital in 2013.
In 2015, at the age of 40, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, and has blogged and spoken internationally about her experiences. Her TEDx Talk, ‘Jar of Joy’, talks about how to help anyone diagnosed with cancer. In 2016, she was nominated for a Woman of the Year award, and a Health Education England Patient Leadership award.
In 2018 Liz was diagnosed with locally recurrent breast cancer and underwent a second round of treatment. She continues to blog and is an active patient advocate.
