Cindy Yu is a China reporter and broadcast editor at the Spectator. She was born and raised in Nanjing, China, until the age of 10. She read politics, philosophy, and economics at the University of Oxford, where she also read for a master of science in contemporary Chinese studies. Her research specialised on Chinese political propaganda and modern youth opinion. She lived and worked in Hong Kong for five weeks in the summer of 2015.
She has written extensively about Chinese society – from marriage to education – and politics for the Spectator. She is a frequent commentator on China issues for RTE and BBC World Service and World TV.
