Charlie Stripp is Director of the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) and Chief Executive of the educational charity Mathematics in Education and Industry (MEI).He is a passionate advocate of mathematics education at all levels from primary school to university. He taught mathematics in the state sector for 10 years, both in secondary schools and in a large Further Education College. In 2000 he joined MEI to set up and lead the project that eventually became the national Further Mathematics Support Programme, a highly successful government-funded programme that is still managed by MEI.Charlie has extensive experience in teacher professional development, curriculum development and assessment in mathematics. He has also contributed to many mathematics textbooks and enrichment materials, and led the development of MEI’s acclaimed online teaching and learning resources.Charlie became MEI’s chief executive in 2010. From March 2013 he became director of the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), whilst continuing as MEI’s Chief Executive.He was awarded an MBE for services to education in 2015.
