Alex Metcalfe is the policy lead for employment and pensions at the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). He has published research on the labour and skills needs of small firms after Brexit, as well as economic analysis on the cumulative cost of government policy on small firms. He frequently represents FSB at oral evidence sessions and ministerial round tables, and is a member of the Home Office Employers’ Representative Group on EU Exit.
Prior to FSB, Alex worked as a senior economist on tax policy in the Canadian Treasury and on the Consumer Rights Bill Team at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. He studied at Oxford, Cambridge and Queen’s universities.
