Ailbhe Smyth has been active in feminist, LGBTQ and socialist politics for many years. The founding head of Women’s Studies at University College Dublin (UCD), she left academia in 2006 to work with women’s community organisations and in social movement politics. Ailbhe has written about feminism, politics and culture in Ireland and is a regular contributor to broadcast and social media as well as public debate.
