Saturday 13 October, 18:452100, ConservatoryFestival Attractions

A chance for festival attendees to relax, continue the debates informally and enjoy a drink on behalf of Diageo. Key festival partners will highlight the importance of public discussion and open debate with a number of short speeches introduced by the AoI’s director, Claire Fox.

Throughout the evening, attendees will be entertained by The McConkey Jazz Trio – Daniel McConkey (saxophone), Joe Lee (bass) and Curtis Volp (guitar) – from Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

The Daniel McConkey trio met as undergraduates at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and have been playing together across London and the South East for over 3 years. Sharing a love for the classic swinging sound of the Great American Songbook, the group have previously performed at events for the likes of Channel 4, Guardian and the Commonwealth Business Banquet. Each member is a busy, creative musician in his own right, regularly playing at venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express Dean Street and the Savoy. The trio features Joe Lee on double bass and Curtis Volp on Guitar.
