Eric MacFarlane is an English teacher, headteacher (girls’ secondary modern, co-educational grammar), sixth-form college principal, university staff trainer and adviser (Oxford, UCL, Surrey, Birkbeck, University of New York). He is the author of several books about education, including Education 16-19: In Transition. His latest book The Making of a Maverick (Pen Press) draws on his personal experiences of a lifetime spent in education.
