Dr Evan Harris

Evan Harris studied Medicine at Oxford before working as a hospital doctor and public health medicine. He was MP for Oxford West and Abingdon from 1997-2010. During this time, Dr Harris built up a reputation for campaigning on free speech, equality, science, parliamentary reform and evidence-based policy. He has been Liberal Democrat Spokesman on Health, Science, Equality and Human Rights; and served on the Science and Technology Select Committee, the Joint Committee on Human Rights and the elected Reform of Parliament Select Committee.

He is experienced in human rights issues and serves on the BMA’s Medical Ethics Committee. He writes for British Medical Journal and a science blog for the Guardian.
