Colin Tweedy

Colin Tweedy is a leading global figure on the connections between culture, creativity and commerce. He has been Chief Executive of Arts & Business (formerly the Association for Business Sponsorship of the Arts, ABSA) since 1983 and is chairman of CEREC (Comité Européen pour le Rapprochement de l’Economie et de la Culture).

Colin is a director of the Headlong Stage Company, the Mariinsky Theatre Trust, Crusaid and formerly The Covent Garden International Festival (1995-2001).  He is Secretary of the Global Advisory Board of the Mariinsky Theatre and a Member of the Council for Charitable Support. He is also a trustee of the Serpentine Gallery and The Ideas Foundation and a Council member of the National Musicians Symphony Orchestra. Colin was a Selector for the Discerning Eye 2000 Exhibition, a member of the Advisory Panel for the Whitbread Book Awards, a judge for the PR Week Awards 2000 and a judge for the Art & Work Awards 2002.  He was a member of the Council of the Japan Festival 1991 and a member of the UK National Committee of the European Cinema and TV Year 1988-89.  He was elected a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute (2002) and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

Colin Tweedy was born in 1953 and has a Master of Arts from St Catherine’s College Oxford.  He was Manager of the Thorndike Theatre, Leatherhead 1976-78; Corporate Finance Officer, Guinness Mahon Merchant Bank 1978-80 and Assistant Director, Streets Financial Public Relations, 1980.
