Imperial College London will co-host the Battle of Ideas 2008 reception in its wonderful College Main Entrance on Exhibition Road, designed by Fosters and Partners and opened by Her Majesty the Queen in June 2004. Finding solutions to the problems of the modern world, sharing discoveries and debating the implications of research is part of Imperial College’s DNA, so this partnership promises a lively evening. 19.15: Welcome speeches
19.30 – 19.50: Performance by Ian Archer-Watters of The Swan, a homage to Fokine’s The Dying Swan, with cellist Gabriella Swallow playing Le Cygne from Camille Saint-Saëns Carnival des Animaux accompanied by Anne Marshall (piano). Followed by cello performance of Bach’s Prelude for the First Suite in G major by Gabriella Swallow.
